FASHION IN MIAMI
If you find yourself wondering if the beautiful women on the street are ordinary citizens of Miami, or if thousands of models are just wandering the streets, the answer is: both.
Miami is home to models and fashion fans.
Miami is the fashion capital for several reasons. It has warm weather all year round, it boasts luxury boutiques and designer stores galore, and it is known as an international center of Commerce. Miami may be teeming with fashion people in all corners, but it's fair to say that South Beach is the capital of this fashion capital. Home to hubs for every major global modeling Agency, including Wilhelmina models, Elite Model Management and William Morris agencies, as well as well-known local agencies such as the Green Agency, Miami, featuring models from all over the world who move here to pursue their dreams. The tropical climate makes for an ideal backdrop for photo shoots for commercials, magazine articles, and fashion shows. Photographer Bruce Weber, who has shot for the likes of Vogue, W, Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair, to name a few, is fascinated by Miami. He made it his home and took most of his photos here. He even made a short documentary about Liberty City called "Liberty City I like Paris".
THE DESIGNERS AND MASTERMINDS
Bruce Weber is not the only mod who can call Miami home. The most famous, Gianni Versace fell in love with Miami and turned a 1930s apartment building on Ocean Drive into his own ornate mansion in 1992.Gianni Versace was tragically killed in this place in 1997 when he returned home from a nearby cafe where he read Italian Newspapers every morning. The shooting has infamously cemented the place as a fashion lovers ' attraction, where people regularly pay homage to the highly regarded designer. The Versace brand, now run by his sister Donatella, has since remained one of the best in the world. Today, the Versace mansion is known as The Villa by Barton G, an upscale Hotel , restaurant, and venue. The Villa Martini, their signature drink, is served in an intimate 30-seat dining room in a glass of Versace martini. Miami has hosted designers and influencers from afar who are drawn to its weather and fashion Scene , it has also grown its own talent of talented fashion people such as Lazaro Hernandez, a young Mayan who made a huge splash in the fashion Scene by receiving one of the most respected awards in the industry, the CFDA's Perry Ellis award for new talent for his Proenza Schouler label. Lazaro's campaign began in 2000 at Miami International Airport when he ran into Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. He nervously slipped her a note on a napkin through the stewardess, and she connected him to Michael Kors. The rest is history. Proenza Schouler is a hip mascot that is perfect for a vacation in Miami. Its women's clothing and accessories reflect the vibrant, tropical atmosphere of Miami. Alejando Ingelmo, his eponymous Shoe label, has a Shoe design in its blood Dating back to a great-grandfather in Salamanca, Spain, but that was in Miami, where Ingelmo was born and raised. Ingelmo shoes and accessories are architectural and beautiful, demonstrating a high level of craftsmanship.
SHOPPING ON SITE
Webster Miami is a Luxury Boutique that is located in a 20,000-square-foot Art Deco building in Miami Beach. Webster is run by two fashion veterans who are cutting their teeth on the likes of Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci and Jil Sander, and has developed into their destination for stylists, editors and fashion insiders. Webster is a South Beach fashion Megacenter where it's almost impossible to find brands like Balmain, as well as designer exclusives from Alexander Wang, ACNE and Lisa Marie Fernandez. The design district of Miami has many high-end designer boutiques located a few blocks from each other. Maison Martin Margiela is a must-have in this area, as well as for the beautiful interior in the classic Margiela style, combining an avant-garde Museum, dignified and scientific, as well as its clothing in the same style. The "temporary" Margiela boutique has been located since 2010, and will hopefully find a permanent home there, making it only the third retail location in the United States. Everything in Margiela is worth a second look; a seemingly simple t-shirt probably has a hidden detail or two. Even staff uniforms are a double virtue; they wear scientists ' headscarves, only enhancing the whimsical aesthetic created by the designer. Other notable stores in the design district include En Avance, a boutique showcasing global designers including Yigal Azruel and Robert Rodriguez and Marni, eclectic Italian men's and women's clothing. Another stop in the area is the concept boutique Nektar De Stagni, which collaborates with artists on projects and presents its own label of interesting and beautiful accessories from Miami, such as Shark "Pearl" Earrings, real sharks covered in mother-of-pearl enamel.
Miami has fashion staples, but it also has many stores and fashion shows. Some of the best pop-UPS take place during Art Basel in December , where designer Mara Hoffman collaborated with artists for a collection that included swimwear and beachwear. Another splash of Basel 2011 was the collaboration of Pringle of Scotland and Webster, showcasing a collaboration between Central Saint Martens, a respected London design school, and Pringle of Scotland. Miami Scene friendly and collaborative; pop-up stores continue to offer new and interesting concepts for curious fashionistas to talk about.
Miami hosts the world fashion show in Three major fashion weeks: Miami week, Miami Beach international fashion week and Funkshion fashion Week, in July, March and October, respectively, there are major showcases of swimwear, international design, resort and lingerie taking place throughout the city.
Of course, any major fashion city will have some star centers for the vacationing shopper. If you are looking for brands that rival the Champs-Elysees and Manhattan's 5th Avenue, try Bal Halbour Stores as well as Merrick Park Village , both fine open-air restaurants with fine dining and stores including Chanel, Prada, Lanvin, Trina Turk, Burberry, Carolina Herrera and others. Another open-air shopping stop is Lincoln road, a strip of shops and eateries that includes everything from an independent bookstore to an antique market on Sundays. For a more pan-American shopping center, there's Dadeland , The Falls , and Sunset Place, where you'll find stores like Zara, Macy's, and the Gap , There are many places where you can find theft. Dolphin Mall is the largest shopping center in Miami and a major shopping center. Dolphin Mall is a "retail shopping center" and a must-have if you are looking for a serious market entry, including Banana Republic Factory Store, The Outlet Store, Bloomingdale's Store, Lord & Taylor Outlet Store, and Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th, just to name a few. Barneys Co-Op, a younger, fresher take on Barney, located on Miami Beach , is a lower-priced one with the same subtle curated flavor as Barney's.
There is no shortage of style in Miami, the only problem with this trendy warm weather city is that there isn't really much opportunity to showcase the styles of winter and fall ... but is this really a problem?
