Dom Baglio in Barcelona-a masterpiece by Antonio Gaudi
The Ballo house in Barcelona, whose second name sounds like the house of Bones, is one of the most famous creations of Antonio Gaudi.
The only building built by the great architect in the modernist style has been protected by UNESCO since 2005.
Let's find out why Casa Batllo is considered a masterpiece and whether it is worth visiting this attraction.
History of the house of Baglio
The architect worked on the project of the house from 1904 to 1906. The order was made by textile magnate Josep Baglio.
The manufacturer and his wife wanted to get an unusual mansion. Initially, they planned to demolish the old-fashioned building and build a new one, but Gaudi persuaded the entrepreneur.
The master approached the matter creatively and started working on the drawings. He left the old Foundation and completely remodeled the walls, created a new ventilation system, lighting and original wooden decor items.
Now the Baglio House is a classic example of modernist
The name Of the house with skulls (as the famous mansion is sometimes called) is due to the facade.
Externally, the building resembles a skeleton with balconies in the form of skulls and columns that resemble bones.
IN SPANISH, THE ATTRACTION SOUNDS MORE BEAUTIFUL – CASA BATTLO.
There is also another name-the house of the Dragon. Some fans of Gaudi's talent believe that the mansion represents this mythical creature.
The building has almost no straight lines and no symmetry, but it looks harmonious.
Do not hesitate to go inside: there is something to see.
There are a lot of interesting interior details inside:
Spacious interior with a corrugated ceiling that resembles the waves of the sea.
Luxurious office of the owner of the house.
A chandelier that looks like the sun.
A courtyard with a floor made of multicolored mosaics of ceramics and glass.
A great impression on tourists is made by Windows that have an irregular shape and resemble the Windows of a fairy-tale house.
It seems that the window structures are made of plasticine, but this is a deceptive impression: for the manufacture of strong stones were used, extracted from the hill of Montjuic.
These same stones were used for the facade design.
Windows and stained glass.
The roof of the house from the facade resembles the spine of a dragon.
THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FOUR CHIMNEY LIKE GIANT MUSHROOMS, AND A STEPPED TERRACE AZOTEA.
In addition, you will see a variety of decorative items made in the trencadis technique.
Gaudi was the first to use this technology for finishing buildings, creating a mosaic of pieces of multicolored ceramics.
At the top of the structure is a tower with a cross, shifted to the left. This is further evidence that the great inventor loved asymmetry.
